Mini-Truckin' Sept.1995
Originally Published MiniTruckin' Magazine Sept. 1995
When Todd Waak of Las Vegas, Nevada was finally sick and tired of his Volkswagen breaking down and stranding him anywhere but near home, he bought a new 1990 Mazda B2200.
On April 18,1990 Todd brought his brand new truck home. He began to dream of one day showing to everyone that his truck was in fact, "all that" by gracing the pages of mini-truckin's foremost lexicon of cool, MiniTruckin Magazine. Without further ado, we introduce Todd's ride that has come full-circle.
His truck's true persona took shape, as many others do, by lowering it to a more respectable level and adding wheels, but he soon found himself wanting more. Before long, Todd was slamming his truck even closer to terra firma and wild graphic designs started appearing on every piece of paper or surface he was able to put a pencil, pen or marker on.
As soon as it was humanly possible, Todd delivered his Mazda to Shawn Ealy Designs of Henderson, Nevada who performed the body enhancements his truck recieved before its fresh coat of paint. Shawn shaved the original emblems and replaced them with those from a Mazda Miata. His next mission was to create a wild paint scheme that reflected what Todd had envisioned.
His design utilized Deltron Green Blue, Glacier White, Lust Red, Corel Red, and Wintermint Green. The final result is a coral truck with a blue graphic stripe and it appears that the front end and doors are being torn into shreds by the wind, leaving it Glacier White. Upon further inspection, the Fastback tonneau cover has been treated to coral paint as well, however it is being shred by a different means; a black panther is ripping its way through.
Now that Todd's Mazda had the looks, it was time to complete the package, to have "all the goods." He opted for a set of 14x6 inch chrome Spectrum five spokes wrapped tightly in 185/60-14 tires that neatly fill the order. Meanwhile, Silver State Plating was busy chroming most of his motor components. Besides all of this there was stlil something missing. He needed to do something wild with the interior of his ride.
It was now finally time to throw down a bitchin' interior. Interior enchancements were made by Automotive Accents of Las Vegas, Nevada. Todd's stock seats were covered in gray velour. The door panels are mostly covered in gray velour but they have a hard look graphic embossed into the veleour and a stripe in the green vinyl that emulates the exterior lines of the vehicle. The dash has been treated to the same paint color as the external graphic stripe, giving it a Euro-look. A 10-inch Formuling steering wheel in white vinyl keeps this mini going straight.
Todd has been involved with mini-truckin' for about four and a half years now and this is his first and only attempt so far. It looks to us like he's learned his leasons well! He would like to thank his friends Leon and Shawn and especially his wife, Alma. MiniTruckin' Magazine is happy to have made one of your dreams come true, Todd. It's a good thing you built such a killer ride! See ya'!
