Pat's Helmet

After seeing his brother, Jim's, H-Town Racing helmet, Pat decided to bring in his own helmet for Shawn to paint. He wanted the same general idea as Jim's because they participate on the same team.

Pat's helmet also has the banker, and Shawn is beginning to letter 'H-Town racing. He also painted many dollar signs ($), which eventually will be nearly hidden.

When Shawn cleared the helmet, he added blue pearl, which is hard to capture on camera, but makes the helmet sparkle in the sunlight.

A side profile displays the dollar signs and silver shreds, outlined with green pinstripes.

On the front, Shawn lettered 'The Big Show', and painted stars near the mouthpiece.

Danny Cooper's Chopper; The Finale

Shawn made a special trip to Phoenix, AZ last week, and spent the day with Danny, adding finishing touches to his bike.

The bike is completely put together and as the picture shows, it is a complete radical custom. All that was left to do was polish and pinstripe.

We're not sure if Dad is supposed to see this picture or not, but Shawn talked Zach into posing on his dad's bike. The sole purpose of this was to show how low the chopper sits to the ground (and to show Danny what we were up to while he was gone to a meeting.)

The guys at the shop, Matt and Matthias, helped Shawn prepare the bike for polish.

Gilbert came over from a neighboring shop and polished the chopper as Shawn wet sanded it.

After it was completely polished and shining like glass, Shawn brought out his pinstriping brushes.

He added light green pinstripes in various places, making the bike even more detailed.

Richie's Eagle

Richie brought in his red 1956 F1 Ford Pickup for Shawn to airbrush. The truck is one of many in Richie's impressive auto collection, and he completely restored it himself, along with the help of friends and neighbors. Richie has had the truck for nearly 2 years, and for the last year and a half, he has been working to make it look as it does today.

Richie told Shawn that he wanted to go with a patriotic theme. He wanted a soaring eagle with a waving flag in the background.

Shawn begain by taping off the doors, and putting a plastic protective sheet over the rest of the truck. He sanded the doors, and began working on the body of the eagle.

After Shawn finished the general layout of the eagle, he began working on the flag. He began with the union, then laid out a mask to do the stripes.

Shawn added shadows and highlights in appropriate places, making the flag wave, as if in the wind. Then, he used a brush to give the eagle finishing touches. With each stroke, he created the layers of feathers and brought them out with highlights.

Then, Shawn shadowed around the head of the eagle, making it more 3-D, and then added white star bursts.

An angled view of the passenger side door. Shawn had to switch the direction of the flag, so that it was correct on both sides, with the union on the left.

Happy Birthday Chad!

This past weekend, Shawn had the privelage of being invited to Chad's 21st birthday party. Shawn brought his suburban after promising Chad that they would go cruising together.

After a day of celebrating, Shawn kept his promise, and took Chad off-roading through the desert.

Thanks, Chad! Happy Birthday! Friends for life!

Scott and Judy's Toyota

Scott and Judy Comstock brought in their FJ Toyota with a new idea for Shawn.

They wanted tire marks on the sides of their vehicle.

Shawn spent the week creating the tire marks, along with a large FJ logo, and a small Toyota within the logo.

When they came to pick it up, they were more than thrilled with the outcome. "I had an idea of what it would look like, but I didn't imagine it could look this great", Judy said, excited about her new graphics.

The family, along with their picture perfect puppy, poses with Shawn.

Dr. Magic

For the last 10 years, John McClenahan has spent his time, money, and talent entertaining children as Doctor Magic.

He and his wife, Joan, (Mrs. Magic) donate their spare time going around to hospitals, such as Sunrise, UMC, and Summerlin, spending time with the children, especially the cancer patients, and putting on magic shows for them. They do their best to support children in their fight against cancer by bringing the healing power of fun and laughter.

They also perform at birthday parties and other events, in exchange for a donation.
John brought in blank backdrops for Shawn to airbrush before his next show.

On one set, Shawn painted 'The Doctor Magic Show'. On the other, he painted 'The Mr. Safe-T Show', and included safety tips, such as 'No Drugs', 'No Bullying', and the dangers of strangers. All of the profit is donated to Candlelighters for Childhood Cancer. You can contact John and find out more information at doctormagiclv@embarqmail.com.
