Road Trip: Me and Tyler

Tyler's saying bye to his mother and we are on our way to Illinois.

Tyler enjoyed taking pictures along the way. He took quite a few, but I really like this one of the tunnel that he captured.

Our country is proud. We saw lots of memorials along our way. It was very inspirational.

Here is Tyler with a monument he liked a lot. It was nice to see these, and take a break off the road.

Here is more of the monuments. We drove 14 hours the first day, and it was later than 1am when we finally stopped at this hotel below.

This is actually the next morning when we were heading out to finish our trip.

We had breakfast at the Bird City Diner. They were really nice and the food was really good.

We were heading through Kansas on our way to meet up with Tenille and Daryl, to pick up her motorcycle she wanted painted.

Seeing this inspired me. It reminded me of a lot of my friends, who serve for our country.

We met up with Tenille and her son. We discussed the paint job we were going to do on her motorcycle. Then we were back on the road to finish our trip.

Tyler wanted to see this hill climbing park, so we took a break and stretched our legs.

After many hours in the truck. It was the last day and turning into evening. Less than 2 hours away from our final destination.

The trip took a turning point when a deer jumped out into the roadway, and we hit it doing about 55 mph. As you can see the damage to the truck was substantial, and it ended our driving for the evening. We stayed at the side of the road and soon IL State Police came to help. He was very nice and mentioned he'll see up to 15 deer collisions in one evening on this stretch of the highway.

This is our tow truck driver, who got us safely to the Comfort Inn in Jacksonville, IL. The next morning, Uncle Tim towed us the last leg of our trip.
